Neuro-Oncology Care and Services at WPAHS
The neuro-oncology programs of West Penn Allegheny Health System offer some of the most advanced, fully integrated services including surgical and non-invasive procedures for the treatment of brain tumors, as well as multi-modal approaches for particularly complex cases. Among the hallmarks of the programs are video-assisted, minimally invasive surgery, and computer-targeted radiation therapy.
Coordinated care is provided by a dedicated team of a board-certified neuro-oncologist, neuro-surgeons, radiation oncologists, and medical oncologists. The team provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of newly diagnosed and recurrent primary or metastatic neurological tumors. Long term neurological follow up of neurological cancer survivors is coordinated and managed.
The neuro-oncology team extends the strength of its highly collaborative approach to treatment into the arena of research by devising and making available clinical protocols that unify the expertise of specialists in numerous disciplines – in order to reach beyond accepted techniques into sophisticated, more effective treatment strategies.
