Palliative and Hospice Care Services at WPAHS
WPAHS Palliative Care Services provides for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients by providing care and support to patients, families, and loved ones dealing with serious, progressive illness such as:
- Cancer
- Chronic lung diseases
- Heart disease
- Liver disease
- Kidney failure
- Neurological diseases
- Other end-stage illnesses
Forbes Hospice cares for people in Allegheny and Beaver counties, as well as parts of Butler, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Whether in your own home, a nursing or assisted living facility, or our own inpatient unit, Forbes Hospice can care for you.
We offer expertise in treating pain and other symptoms of illness while providing emotional support for patients and families aiming to assure patients remain as comfortable and active as possible through the stages of serious illness.
Palliative Medicine Services provides care on an inpatient and outpatient basis helping families coordinate services for their loved ones when they are hospitalized, require home palliative care, hospice services, or transfer to inpatient facilities.
The Palliative Medicine Team assists patients who are recently diagnosed with a serious illness and offers assistance throughout various phases of the illness including symptom management, goals of care, and coordination of services.

- Palliative care physician
- Social worker
- Psychologist
- Chaplain
- Pharmacist
- Institute for Pain Medicine
- Nurse practitioner

Palliative Medicine Services help patients, families, friends, and caregivers cope with the physical symptoms and emotional toll of serious illness including:
- Pain and symptom management’
- Counseling in treatment choices and decisions
- Emotional and spiritual support
- Patient and family counseling
- Bereavement support and referral services
- Planning for post-hospital care
Palliative care provides supplemental services and guidance as their regular physicians continues to direct their care. Patient may be referred to palliative medicine services by their physician upon request.
